About

Hi, I'm Shila Vardell, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist based in Midtown Sacramento. I work with couples navigating communication breakdowns, infidelity, trust, trauma, and intimacy, and with adults and teens working through anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, parenting challenges, and life transitions. If you're feeling stuck or overwhelmed, I want you to know you're not alone, and you don't have to figure it out by yourself.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in what actually works for you. I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed CBT, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches to help you understand how your thoughts shape your feelings and experiences. I also use solution-focused and emotion-focused techniques, including tools like the emotion wheel, self-love assessments, and future-focused questioning, to help you build real, lasting change. I genuinely celebrate your progress along the way.

I have specialized training in Level 1 and Level 2 Gottman Method Couples Therapy, CBT, Trauma-Informed CBT, and Neuropsychotherapy. I hold a Master's in Counseling Psychology from National University, an MBA from University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor's in Psychology from California State University, Chico. I've been in practice for four years.

I offer both in-person sessions in Midtown Sacramento and telehealth sessions for California residents. I'd love to connect, reach out to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation and let's figure out if we're a good fit.
