Serious about tough stuff, but with laughs.

About

I’m serious about tough situations, but there are plenty of laughs. Diving into heavy feelings matters, but so does genuine conversation to shift your perspective. Good counselling is like Brazilian soccer: it’s not just about scoring goals, it’s about moving the ball creatively. Win or lose, the game is a celebration.

I help you look at how you move through life—how your personality shows up and whether it helps or hurts you to get what you want. My approach is deep, conversational and grounded. I draw on psychology, neuroscience and philosophy (think Andrew Huberman meets Joseph Campbell), but we won't work out of a workbook and I rarely break out a whiteboard these days. Mostly, I sit, listen and ask good questions. Sometimes we will laugh and marvel at the absurdity that life serves up.

My clients are often high-achievers—entrepreneurs, professionals and tradespeople—who need to till the soil of their busy lives. Many find me after a major disruption like a death, separation or job loss. A simple question can sometimes bring a painful thing to the surface quickly, but we go at a pace you can handle.

I work in 75-minute sessions as 50 minutes just isn’t enough time to get into it. Weekly or biweekly sessions work best and some clients show up in 6-to-10-session spurts to focus on the immediate. Many clients take strategic breaks to integrate what they’ve learned before returning for the next "season." I also have a background in career counselling and love working with teenagers and young adults navigating their education or early stages of their careers.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
Yes. I take appointments after 1pm on Thursdays and Fridays and I work a few Saturdays each month.
What does a first session with you look like?
A first session with me will run at least 75-minutes long. The first thing we do is go over a hard copy of my Intake Form/Confidentiality Agreement (I send a digital copy to preview in advance), I answer your questions and address your concerns, and then we start talking. I have a fairly informal assessment where I try to get an overview of why you're here, what you've tried and what sorts of obstacles you're facing to successful counselling, but there's plenty of time for open, free-flowing conversation and most people say that they walk away feeling good after the first session because they had a chance to talk about what's been bothering them.
