Support for high-functioning adults with ADHD, anxiety, and/or burnout who are ready to shift from surviving to thriving and start feeling like themselves.

About

I work with emotionally overwhelmed, high-functioning adults with ADHD, anxiety, or depression who have spent years masking, overthinking, people-pleasing, or trying to earn their worth through achievement and perfectionism. You're the person everyone relies on, but internally you feel exhausted and never quite 'good enough.' Maybe you were diagnosed with ADHD later in life, or maybe you've just always known something felt harder for you than it seemed to for everyone else. You want to show up for yourself and others, yet expectations feel unmanageable and conflict keeps surfacing.

In our sessions, I hold space for you to feel genuinely heard while we explore what's underneath the overwhelm, the self-criticism, and the relationship stress. I often find myself getting curious about your values and asking what something really means to you, and gently challenging the stories you've been telling yourself about your worth and your abilities. We can hold two things at once here: accepting yourself as you are, and working toward meaningful change.

My approach blends CBT, DBT, Emotion Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and ADHD coaching, all grounded in CADDRA-informed, evidence-based practice and shaped by person-centered and strengths-based values. I work at a pace that feels right for you, always centered on your values and goals.

I'm a Registered Psychotherapist based in Etobicoke, Ontario, offering virtual sessions to adults across Ontario. I also offer ADHD 101 keynote and in-service presentations for organizations looking to build more neurodivergent-affirming workplaces. If you're ready to explore your challenges and begin the journey of feeling more like yourself, I'm here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

Frequently asked questions

What does a first session with you look like?
Your first session is a chance to share your story in a supportive, confidential, and nonjudgmental environment. It’s also an opportunity to get a feel for your therapist and their approach. We’ll spend time getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and exploring the experiences, patterns, and challenges you’d like support with. Together, we’ll begin identifying your values, strengths, and goals, while creating a foundation for meaningful therapeutic work moving forward. There’s no expectation that you have everything figured out before you begin. The first session is simply a starting point—a space to feel heard, build understanding, and begin working together at a pace that feels right for you.
What's your approach to working with ADHD?
ADHD therapy is about understanding how your brain works—not trying to fit you into someone else’s idea of how you should function. Together, we’ll explore how ADHD may be affecting attention, executive functioning, motivation, emotions, relationships, and everyday life, while building practical strategies that work with your unique needs and strengths. The goal isn’t to change who you are, but to help you better understand yourself, build confidence, and create sustainable ways of navigating life that feel more manageable and authentic. We unpack the impact of masking, perfectionism, self-criticism, and burnout. I approach from both levels of understanding the why behind what is happening, and exploring practical strategies of managing day to day functioning.
How quickly can I book a first appointment?
Right away! To schedule a complimentary consultation call you can email me at erika@inthemidstpsychotherapy.ca or schedule online through https://aws-portal.owlpractice.ca/inthemidstpsychotherapy/booking?therapist_id=1&location_id=1&rate_id=&day=2025-10-20&time=&video_session=0 I work Monday through Friday with morning, afternoon and evening availability. Virtual therapy with me includes signing into your OWL video practice account with the benefits of no commute, no waiting rooms, no fuss of traffic or parking, and the ability to meet from the comfort of your own home. Virtual therapy offers the ease and convenience of attending regular sessions even on busy or low energy days and the ability to connect with specialized therapists outside of your locality.
Who do you typically work best with?
You may be someone who thinks, “I’m capable, overwhelmed, self-critical, emotionally overextended, and exhausted from trying to hold everything together.” I work especially well with late-diagnosed ADHD adults, high-masking women, perfectionistic professionals, and emotionally exhausted high-functioners who appear competent and capable on the outside, but internally feel chaotic, anxious, overwhelmed, or caught in shame and self-doubt. You may overfunction in relationships, struggle with emotional regulation, or find yourself burned out from perfectionism and people-pleasing, or feeling “never good enough”. Maybe keeping everything together was a pattern that may have helped you cope for years, but it’s become exhausting and no longer feel sustainable. Therapy offers a space to make sense of your experiences, reconnect with yourself, build self-trust, and develop practical, sustainable ways of navigating life that work with your brain, not against it.
