About
I'm Edita Lorinczova, a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a background in medicine and clinical research. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I earned a Doctor of Medicine in Hungary and worked in pharmaceutical research specializing in women's health. My practice is rooted in relational and psychodynamic psychotherapy, guided by the understanding that symptoms are not disruptions to be eliminated but meaningful expressions of an inner life seeking recognition.
Many people come to therapy with the sense that something inside has grown too heavy to carry alone, a quiet ache, persistent inner tension, or the feeling of living without enough support for what remains unresolved. Often there is no single event to point to, only the sense that something has been held for too long. These burdens may arise from early relational wounds, internalized expectations and self-criticism, survival strategies that once protected, unwitnessed emotions, unaccompanied loss or transition, or repeating relational patterns.
In therapy, we work at the pace of your psyche, allowing long-held patterns to soften through relational safety, reflective depth, and mindful awareness. I offer individual psychotherapy, couples therapy, and structured mindfulness-based programs (MBSR and MBCPM) for clinics and organizations. Sessions are available in English and Hungarian, online across British Columbia and in person in Vancouver.

Frequently asked questions
- Who Do You Typically Work Best With?
- I tend to work best with adults who are curious about themselves and interested in understanding the deeper patterns underlying how they feel, relate, and move through the world. Many of the people I work with are navigating complex or overlapping concerns, including relationship difficulties, chronic illness or pain, anxiety, grief, trauma, body image and eating concerns, or significant life transitions. You don’t need to arrive with a clear explanation of what is wrong or what you want to change. Sometimes therapy begins simply with a sense that something feels difficult, repetitive, or no longer sustainable, and we work together to understand it more fully.
- What's Your Approach to Working With Relationship Issues?
- I approach relationship concerns with curiosity about the patterns that develop between people and what may be happening beneath them. Together, we may explore recurring conflicts, feelings of disconnection, trust, intimacy, unmet needs, and how earlier relational experiences may be shaping present relationships. Rather than focusing only on communication strategies, I aim to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, including the emotions, expectations, and patterns that can be difficult to recognize when we are caught in them. My approach is relational, psychodynamic, and informed by mindfulness and mentalization.
- What a First Session Looks Like?
- The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another and to understand what brings you to therapy. I’ll invite you to share what feels most important, as well as some of the experiences and circumstances that may be shaping what you are going through now. There is no expectation that you tell your whole story in the first session. We will move at a pace that feels manageable, and there will also be space for you to ask questions and get a sense of how it feels to work together. From there, we can begin thinking together about what you would like from therapy and what might be most helpful to focus on.
- Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
- I currently offer daytime and evening appointments during the week. I do not regularly offer weekend sessions. Availability can vary, so I encourage you to reach out if you are looking for a particular time.
