Evidence-based psychotherapy grounded in neuroscience

About

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. My academic foundation spans kinesiology, neuroscience, and counselling psychology. During my graduate research at Queen's University, I focused on obsessive-compulsive disorder and used brain imaging to track how targeted therapy physically alters neural pathways. I bring this clinician-scientist mindset directly into my practice. I rely on clinical data and biological insights to improve treatment outcomes and help you understand the mechanics of your own mental health.

My therapeutic approach is firmly grounded in evidence. I use structured, research-backed modalities like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. These frameworks allow us to effectively address anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, and emotional dysregulation.

Therapy with me is not about talking in circles. Sessions are collaborative, direct, and practical. You can expect a welcoming environment focused on building tangible strategies you can use between appointments. Outside the clinic, I am an active endurance runner and strength trainer. Training for 50km ultramarathons has taught me a great deal about physical and mental resilience, and I bring that same grounded, realistic energy to our work together. My goal is to equip you with the tools and understanding you need to navigate life’s challenges confidently.

As a therapist, I don't believe the mind and body operate in isolation. My approach is rooted in my academic background across kinesiology, neuroscience, and psychology, allowing me to view mental healthcare through a lens that values both human biology and your lived experience. Through this, I aim to provide a therapeutic experience that is goal-oriented, applies evidence-based care, and takes a holistic perspective.

During my studies, I have focused on how our minds and bodies adapt to stress. Trauma, anxiety, and depression are deeply physical experiences. They change our posture, our energy levels, and our physical resilience. Understanding this reality allows me to treat the whole person rather than just a checklist of psychological symptoms.

My work in neuroscience and brain imaging taught me exactly how mental health struggles manifest physically in the brain. More importantly, it showed me how targeted, evidence-based therapy can actively alter those neural pathways. Through therapy, change can become an attainable reality. is not just a comforting idea. It is a measurable biological process.

This clinician-scientist philosophy means you get the best of both worlds in our sessions. I rely on research and clinical data to ensure the treatments we use are highly effective. At the same time, I know that science is only as good as the connection we build in the session. I combine clinical precision with genuine empathy to create a safe space where you can understand your mind, reconnect with your body, and achieve lasting growth.

As a clinician-scientist and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), my active research directly shapes how I practice therapy. My academic work explores the intersection of mental health and clinical technology. I focus heavily on AI-assisted digital interventions, measurement-based care, and evidence-based treatments. Over the years, I have led clinical trial development and contributed to peer-reviewed publications with more than 1,100 citations.

My goal is to bridge the gap between rigorous science and the therapy room. I have included my academic background here to provide complete transparency into the scientific foundation of the care you will receive.
